2 New
Renault  SUVs Launching in 2027; Bigster and Bridger

French automaker, Renault has recently launched the new-gen Duster SUV at a starting price of Rs 10.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV is initially offered with turbo petrol engines, and a hybrid powertrain will join the line-up by October 2026. Renault is also planning to launch two more SUVs, including a new 7-seater model and a sub-4 meter SUV in the country in 2027. Both SUVs will use the brand’s new RGMP architecture that underpins the Duster.

Renault will introduce an all-new 3-row SUV in the country before the end of this financial year, by March 2027. It is most likely to be the 7-seater derivative of the Dacia Bigster or Renault Boreal on sale in international markets. The India-spec 7-seater SUV will be based on its new Renault Global Modular Platform (RGMP), which also underpins the new Renault Duster.

The new RGMP platform is designed to accommodate  vehicles measuring up to 4.7 meters in length with a maximum wheelbase of 2.74 meters. Renault Boreal and Bigster ride on 2.74 metres long wheelbase and measures around 4.6 metres in length. The new 3-row premium SUV will be offered in both seven-seat and six-seat layout with captain seats in the second-row.

The Bigster will share most of its features with the new-gen Renault Duster. The new SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 163hp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The hybrid version will get a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp, hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively.
